dc.description In this lesson plan, students will learn how to apply computational thinking principles while creating a traditional Turkish dessert, Nevzine. The lesson begins with an introduction to the dessert and its cultural significance in Kayseri, Turkey. Students will then engage in activities that focus on the four computational thinking principles: decomposition (breaking the recipe into smaller steps), pattern recognition (identifying similar steps in other dessert-making processes), abstraction (focusing on essential steps while ignoring less important details), and algorithm design (creating a step-by-step recipe). The lesson culminates with students creating their own algorithm for making Nevzine, followed by a discussion on how computational thinking helps in various real-life situations, not just in computer science. The lesson connects cooking with problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way.
