Description
In this lesson, students will explore the rich artistic traditions of the Seljuk Empire by analyzing the symbolic meanings of geometric, floral, and animal motifs used in their art and architecture. Using the principles of computational thinking, students will break down the motifs into their core components (decomposition), recognize recurring patterns in the designs (pattern recognition), and abstract key ideas about their cultural and religious significance (abstraction). Finally, they will design and create their own motif-inspired artwork by following a step-by-step algorithm. Through this process, students will gain a deeper appreciation for Seljuk art while enhancing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
