Abstract
Description
In this computational thinking lesson plan, students will explore the physics concept of projectile motion, with a specific focus on horizontal shots. The lesson will integrate the four principles of computational thinking: decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm design. Students will begin by learning the foundational concepts of projectile motion, such as how horizontal and vertical components of motion are independent of each other. Through problem-solving activities, they will break down complex motions into simpler parts (decomposition), identify patterns in the behavior of projectiles, and focus on key variables (abstraction). The students will then apply algorithm design to create step-by-step approaches for solving projectile motion problems, particularly for calculating time of flight, horizontal distance, and the effects of gravity on vertical motion.
